A new trailer order is about more than adding numbers to a fleet. It is about making sure those trailers are built for the operation they are about to join.
TST Group has become a new Montracon customer, placing an order for 20 Montracon Curtainsider trailers. The first 10 have now been collected, with a further 10 to follow.
Finished in TST Group’s distinctive blue and orange livery, the new trailers have been built to a bespoke specification based around the requirements of their operation.
Built around TST Group's requirements
No two transport operations are exactly the same, which is why trailer specification matters.
Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, we work with customers to build trailers around how they will actually be used. Everything from flooring and running gear to braking systems and load requirements can influence the final specification.
For TST Group, the new Curtainsiders include hardwood flooring with galvanised omega sections, BPW drum axles, an EN XL body specification, trackers and a Knorr-Bremse 2S/2M braking system.
It is a specification developed for TST Group, while maintaining the quality, strength and longevity we expect from the trailers manufactured at Montracon.
A new relationship with an established operator
While TST Group is a new customer for Montracon, the business itself has a long history within transport and logistics.
Operating through the UK and Ireland and employing more than 400 people, TST Group is an established, award-winning, family-run transport and logistics business.
The company was founded by Liam, Shaun, Maire-Claire and the late John Reid. Today, two generations of the family work together within the business, with its leadership team bringing more than 35 years of transport industry experience.
Despite its scale, TST Group remains family-owned, with customer service at the heart of the business and longstanding customer relationships forming an important part of its approach.

Manufacturing the trailers in the UK
All 20 of the new Curtainsiders are being manufactured in-house in the UK.
UK manufacturing remains an important part of what we do. Keeping trailer production in-house gives us greater control throughout the build and allows individual customer requirements to be incorporated into the finished trailer.
That becomes particularly important with fleet orders. Consistency matters across every trailer, while the specification still needs to reflect the requirements of the operator rather than simply following a standard template.
The first 10 TST Group trailers have now completed that process and been collected, giving the fleet its first look at the new blue and orange Curtainsiders together.
The specification is only the beginning
Choosing the right specification is an important part of ordering a commercial trailer, but the relationship between manufacturer and operator should continue beyond collection.
Parts, warranty and aftersales support all contribute to keeping trailers working throughout their operational life. Our aim is to support customers beyond the initial purchase, providing a direct route back to the manufacturer when support is required.
For a new customer such as TST Group, the collection of these first 10 trailers marks the beginning of that relationship rather than the end of it.
