Montracon is a UK leader in the manufacture and supply of HGV trailers, with 50 years of heritage behind our name. We are a proud UK manufacturing business committed to keeping UK manufacturing alive. Our trailers are fully designed and manufactured in the heart of England at our production plant in Doncaster, South Yorkshire.
With a healthy order book and increasing production volumes, we have exciting times ahead of us. As such, we are looking to recruit several skilled people who can help support the manufacture of our trailers.
We are on the lookout for people with a strong work ethic, a can-do attitude and good mechanical knowledge who are confident working with their hands. Most importantly, we are looking for creative thinkers who can develop and implement hands-on solutions to production problems.
You must be comfortable working on a production line, carrying out routine, repeatable operations, while also being able to work on your own initiative. This includes understanding problems, developing solutions and training other team members.
We are open to hearing from people with experience across a range of industries. This position would be ideally suited to those working in professions such as coach building, HGV trailer manufacturing, commercial vehicle conversion, mechanical fitting, maintenance fitting, or commercial vehicle repair and servicing.
Essential requirements

- Coaching, mentoring and training ability, with the ability to train and mentor less experienced team members
- Commitment to working safely and keeping yourself and others safe
- Sound mechanical knowledge and confidence working with your hands
- Experience working safely with a wide range of electrical hand tools, such as drills, grinders, circular saws and impact drivers
- Ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings and turn drawings into reality
- Understanding of various measuring tools, with the ability to mark and set out for production
Desirable requirements
- Extensive experience in vehicle body conversion and manufacturing, ideally HGV trailers
- Qualifications in coach building or mechanical fitting
- IOSH Working Safely certification
- Knowledge of LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations)
- Computer and software literacy
- Trained and licensed to operate MEWPs and scissor lifts
- Multi-skilled, with electrical installation experience, including low-voltage DC wiring and testing
Salary and hours
Salary: Up to £17 per hour
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Thursday
Overtime: Significant overtime opportunities
