Machinery Carrier Range
- Versatile trailers for heavy equipment
- Low-profile design for easy loading
- Customizable options to suit needs

Montracon has taken a leaf from the car industry when designing our Machinery Carriers, by engineering a standard specification base line common platform, with a range of optional modules, that at the ultimate level provide a trailer with unrivalled load versatility and its owner with optimum operational flexibility.
The latest developments include low profile trailers neck coupled with a reduced incline air operated neck ramp, the two features combining to ease the approach angle for equipment such as access platforms right down to small electric scissors and smaller fork lifts to power up onto the neck ready to be secured for onward transport.

Montracon Machinery Carriers – Strength, Stability and Safety for Heavy-Duty Haulage
When it comes to transporting heavy equipment and plant machinery, Montracon Machinery Carriers lead the way in reliability and build quality. Also known as Machine Transporters, Plant Carriers, Lowloaders, or Heavy Equipment Trailers, these trailers are purpose-built to move your most valuable and demanding loads with confidence.
Designed for strength, stability and ease of operation, Montracon Machinery Carriers are the go-to solution for industries that depend on safe, efficient heavy equipment transport – Innovative Design for Practical Operation.
Engineered for Heavy-Duty Performance
Every Montracon Machinery Carrier is built to withstand the toughest conditions. Featuring a robust drop-frame or step-frame construction, these trailers are designed to carry heavy machinery such as excavators, tractors, bulldozers, and other large plant equipment.
The lower deck height, typically around 0.95 metres, allows tall loads to be carried without exceeding legal transport height limits. This combination of a low running height and high structural integrity ensures maximum load stability and clearance during road transport.
The Key Benefits of Montracon Machinery Carriers
1. Built for Heavy Equipment Haulage
Montracon Machinery Carriers are purpose-built for moving plant, agricultural, and industrial machinery. Typical loads include excavators, JCBs, telehandlers, tractors, access platforms, and crushers. Each trailer is engineered for strength and durability, ensuring dependable service across construction, agriculture, and infrastructure industries.
2. Flexible and Versatile Design
Montracon offers configurations to suit a wide range of operations. The combination of lower deck height, ramp systems, and adaptable load securing options makes these trailers suitable for varied cargo and terrain types.
3. Easy Loading and Accessibility
Integrated ramps, flatbed decks, and optional hydraulic systems make loading straightforward, even for large or awkward machinery. Cranes, winches, or onboard hydraulic systems can be used for added convenience, reducing manual handling and improving safety on-site.
4. Enhanced Safety and Load Security
Safety is built into every Montracon Machine Carrier. The trailers include strong tie-down points, side restraints, and anti-slip deck finishes to ensure equipment remains secure during transit. Optional extras can be included for even greater control.
5. Long-Term Durability
Manufactured using high-grade steel and advanced welding techniques, Montracon Plant Carriers are built for longevity. The heavy-duty chassis and reinforced deck provide long-term reliability, even under the strain of continuous heavy use.
Designed for the Toughest Industries
Montracon Machinery Carriers are trusted by operators across multiple sectors, including:
- Construction – Excavators, bulldozers, rollers, and plant machinery
- Agriculture – Tractors, harvesters, and farm equipment
- Infrastructure & Utilities – Power units, drilling rigs, and heavy maintenance vehicles
- Transport & Recovery – Road repair and breakdown services
Whatever your industry, Montracon trailers provide the versatility, safety, and strength you need to move heavy equipment with confidence.
Lowloader vs Plant Carrier – Understanding the Difference
While the terms Lowloader, Plant Carrier, and Machinery Trailer are often used interchangeably, there are technical distinctions.
- Plant Carrier/Machinery Trailer:
A drop or step-frame trailer with ramps, typically featuring a single lower deck height. These trailers are ideal for general machinery transport. - Lowloader:
A trailer with three distinct deck heights – the upper deck, a low central load deck, and a raised rear deck above the wheels. Designed for extra-tall or heavy equipment where additional clearance is required.
Montracon offers both configurations, ensuring that whatever your transport requirements, there’s a trailer built to suit.
Flexibility and Practicality Combined
Montracon’s Machinery Carriers are renowned for their exceptional build quality and practical design. Each trailer is developed with input from experienced operators to ensure real-world usability and lasting performance.
With a reputation built on attention to detail, engineering precision, and durable construction, Montracon continues to set the standard for heavy equipment transport solutions across the UK.
